Well, we almost mattered.

Though it's been apparent for weeks that Hillary Clinton's "still mathematically possible" strategy was little more than a well-choreographed last gasp, many of us here in Montana still envisioned high political drama surrounding today's final Democratic primary.

Even as recently as this past weekend, Hillary still had Bill campaigning for her in Missoula (after which he ate at the local burger place and bought a round of shots for 70 patrons). Barack Obama was back in Montana as well as last weekend. He didn't buy any shots, but wife Michelle read "Green Eggs and Ham" to students in Kalispell.

But alas, as expected, today's primary has turned into something of an anti-climatic event. Moments before heading to our polling place this morning, we read this AP story, which kind of destroyed any lingering hope that the eyes of the nation would turn to Montana this evening as the votes are tallied.

We originally planned to take and post some photos of today's electoral excitement, but let's just say the pictures would have been less than riveting. There wasn't a single Clinton or Obama supporter anywhere in the vicinity of the school where we voted, and a quick drive-by of other polling places revealed similar scenes of, well, not a whole lot.

Maybe we'll follow Bill's lead and go buy ourselves a shot. It is, after all, finally the end of primary season, and that's probably worth celebrating.
