Obama and Clinton at the Oscars Print E-mail

It's only fitting that tonight's one-on-one debate between Obama and Clinton is taking place at Los Angeles' Kodak Theatre, home of the annual Academy Awards. With the writer's strike threatening to cancel the 2008 ceremony next month, tonight's showdown could be the theatre's most entertaining event of the year.

In EnviroWonk's dream scenario, Hillary and Barack would debate on a stage dressed in an evening gown and tuxedo, as Anderson Cooper -- also in black tie -- opened award envelopes for each question. And like the Oscars, the candidates would be drowned out by orchestra music once they eclipse their allotted time.

In reality, we'll be just as happy if Cooper and his fellow CNN moderators ask more than one environmental and/or energy question, which is all the GOPers got last night. It doesn't seem like much to ask.

Hi, We're EnviroWonk

Yeah, OK, we can be the change that we want to see in the world. But unless powerful people in powerful positions want to be that change as well, nothing's going to change.

So now, finally, there's a place where you can go for news and analysis of politics from an environmental perspective.
