Republican VP nominee Sarah Palin's policies may be obscured right now by some more, uh, personal issues, but one thing she's been consistently clear on is the environment, or at least taking full advantage of it.

As it did after Joe Biden's selection for his party's No. 2, Grist recently tried to pull back the curtain on Palin's environmental record. Here's a couple of our favorites from her resume in Grist's piece (in addition for her overwhelming support of opening ANWR to drilling):

• Palin chairs the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission, a multistate panel "that promotes the conservation and efficient recovery of domestic oil and natural gas resources while protecting health, safety and the environment."
• She was the ethics commissioner of the Alaska Gas and Oil Conservation Commission from 2003 to 2004.
• She believes intelligent design should be taught along with evolution in science classes.

And, her take on renewables: "Alternative-energy solutions are far from imminent and would require more than 10 years to develop." All this (and more) can be just a 72-year-old heartbeat away from the presidency. (Actually, her policies don't sound all that different that what we've got right now.)
